This influential book explores Dunne’s theory of time and his experiences with precognitive dreams. The first half recounts dreams—mainly his own—that appeared to foretell future personal events. Dunne concluded that such dreams predict experiences specific to the dreamer, rather than general events.
In the second half, he develops a theory—later termed Serialism—suggesting that time exists in multiple dimensions, each observed by a higher level of consciousness. According to Dunne, waking attention anchors us in the present, but dreaming loosens this grip, allowing glimpses into both past and future.
Though never embraced by mainstream science, the book has had a lasting impact on speculative and imaginative literature.
