All nine books are in perfect condition, with beautiful cover art and wrapped in promotional slips from the movies. Some minor bumping to the box. A great set and would look lovely displayed together in any Tolkien collection. Illustrated throughout with artwork unique to Japanese printings. Though they are paperback they do have dust jackets, and have an attractive plain red cover beneath.
After some research it seems that all of the ISBNs point towards a 1992 printing with the 2002 marked bands added later to add value with association to the popular movies. However as I am no expert in tracing Japanese versions (yet!) I would not want to promise that these are 1992, and please any buyer be aware that they may be 2002 publications.
