A key precursor to Kenneth Grant’s celebrated trilogies, The Carfax Monographs are a distinctive blend of occult insight and visual art. Privately published between 1959 and 1963, the series paired esoteric essays with original illustrations by Steffi Grant. Few original copies now remain.
This new edition presents the most complete version to date, based on previously unseen material from the Kenneth and Steffi Grant Archive. It includes full-colour facsimiles of Steffi’s large Golden Dawn sketchbooks, newly edited essays with full citations, and a bibliography cross-referenced with the Grants’ own library.
An introductory essay by Henrik Bogdan highlights Steffi Grant’s central role as artist, researcher, writer and organiser of the series, emphasising her influence on its content and structure.
Intended as both a scholarly reconstruction and a practical occult guide, The Carfax Monographs explore the hidden traditions of Western esotericism through precise symbolism, careful attribution and technical accuracy.
