In the shop for the sixth time, the rare and beautiful "Golden Dawn Tarot" deck.
Illustrated by Robert Wang under the direction of Dr. Israel Regardie to reveal the secrets of the The Secret Order of the Golden Dawn, this deck is based on the original 19th-century designs of S. L. MacGregor Mathers previously unrevealed to outsiders.
Deck printed in Switzerland, box in the USA. Copy is a first edition, second impression from 1978. Cards printed in 1977, as shown in the bottom corner of the verso.
Box has a closed tear along one edge of a bottom corner, pictured. Otherwise in great condition with only rubbing and some marks. Has multiple price stickers from the original sale. Book is very clean and in excellent condition with only small dog-eared corners.
The glaring issue to note is the off-centre printing of the red colour layer to the verso art, which gives it an almost 3d-glasses like effect. I think this shows the history of the printing technique and is quite an interesting feature to this copy, but I can see that others may disagree so have reduced the price. Otherwise the cards are in incredible condition and hardly seem handled at all.
