"The first questions which the non-qabalistical reader will probably ask are: What is Qabalah? Who was its author? What are its sub-divisions? What are its general teachings? And why is a translation of it required at the present time?
I will answer the last question first.” - S L MacGregor Mathers, The Kabbalah Unveiled.
Published in 1975 Routledge & Kegan Paul, this is the thirteenth impression of the first edition.
Mathers (1854-1918) was a prominent scholar and leader of the occult movement in Britian at the turn of the century. A life-long fascination with mysticism and Celtic symbolism led Mathers to hold high office in the Rosicrucian Society of England, and eventually to become a founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He is also well known for having been a key tutor to Aleister Crowley.
Apart from some slight sunning and shelf-wear this copy is in excellent condition. The pages are bright and it appears practically unread. Contains a pristine foldout of a Kabbalistic diagram of the sephiroth.
