Compiled by W. Y. Evans-Wentz and rendered by Lāma Kazi Dawa-Samdup, this is a Western presentation of the Bardo Thödol. It serves as a sacred guide to the intermediate state, or bardo, between death and rebirth, offering spiritual instructions meant to be read aloud to the dying or deceased. The book has several plates and illustrations.

Second Edition (1949), featuring a preface by Evans-Wentz building upon the original 1927 Oxford University Press publication.

Incredibly rare with a dust jacket. This copy's has chipped and torn in several places, with mottling, some tobacco staining to the spine and an odour from a smoker's home. These issues are the reason for the reduction in price.

Internally the book is largely clean and well-preserved, though there a very few small stains and a slight dog-ear to the final few pages. Not pristine, but a treasure nonetheless and incredibly rare to find one at all especially with a dust jacket.
